‘‘Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see beauty.
Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.’’

— Franz Kafka

My name is Brad Carr, founder of Finding Light. I am many things, some of which cannot be described with words alone. In the known world, I am a photographer, author, coach, and creative practitioner. In the unseen, however, I cannot be limited — I can only be felt.

I was born in the south of England. Via many corners of the UK, I landed with my family in the rolling hills of Mid Wales in 2000. I have spent the past 25 years amongst ancient trees here in Wales, following an unsettled and turbulent childhood. They have held me through some testing times, becoming my best friend, father, and therapist along the way.

I have found peace and healing in Nature and forged a deep sense of purpose through the practice of Nature photography and writing. I now exist to help people like you find your place in the natural world, heal old wounds, turn pain into beauty, and transform your mindset to live a deeper and more meaningful life.

Finding Light offers private creative healing sessions in-person and online, transformative group workshops and retreats in wild spaces that reconnect people with their innate, creative power, primal nature, authentic emotions, and deeper Self.

‘‘There is a particular resonance that one feels from certain landscapes. These wild, untamed places invoke and awaken the soul, bringing forth that which is inexplicable from within the human vessel. When we take tentative steps into these sacred landscapes, we are entering a cathedral. We silently encounter the divine in the mirror of the outer world.’’

What Clients and Attendees are Saying About Brad’s Creative Sessions:

  • Alix, GISDA Workshop Attendee

‘‘I have learnt so much through these sessions, things about myself and the people around me that I never took notice of.  I have also been pulled closer and closer to the beauty around me through every session.  You have given me an opportunity to grow in so many ways.  You've also given me a chance to practice my photography and my creative writing.  I never thought I'd be sitting here today with a book full of poems and songs, and a camera filled with not only beautiful pictures, but beautiful memories.’’

  • GISDA Staff

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to Brad for the incredible series of sessions he delivered for us at GISDA. The sessions were absolutely amazing – truly something special.

Brad created such a safe, supportive space with a strong focus on self-expression. He brought out the best in the young people, encouraging them to open up, share, and support each other in a way that was genuinely beautiful to witness. His approach was warm, respectful, and inspiring, and it was clear that the young people felt completely comfortable in his presence.

What stood out most was how naturally Brad built trust – several of the young people even mentioned how much they appreciated the atmosphere he created, and how easy it was to express themselves honestly around him.

We can’t recommend Brad enough. These sessions would benefit just about anyone – the impact they’ve had on our group has been incredible, and we’re so grateful for the experience.

  • Ian P.

Brad’s style of teaching is that of a coach that wants to help you get the best out of your own vision and art. This is not about telling you what to do, it is about asking you to think about why you are taking that particular picture and how you might improve it. This is for those who really want to take their photography to a new level of meaning and thinking. I made me realise that the most important part of the experience is to be out in nature and to try and use my photography to share the benefits of how this makes me feel.

  • Photographing Feelings

At one point in our formative years, we were all sensitive to the touch of our mothers’ soft hands upon our skin and the sound of her gentle voice in our ears. Why then, I ask, do we spend most of our lives desperately trying to abandon our true selves and forget our true nature? In a world quickly overrun by data and machines – machines that can now apparently ‘create’ art – maybe it is time that we doubled down on what makes us human. That means excavating and exploring the worlds we have kept hidden inside our fragile hearts for so long.

  • The Sunshine After Rain

    I have known sadness,
    and I have known pain,
but at least now I know what it’s like
to feel the sunshine after rain.

  • Learning to See Again

The deep reflective process of spending time in Nature allows us to bring forth into the conscious mind what was once buried in the unconscious. As we walk in a state of meditation beside the silent waters, we dredge the waters of our internal lake, often bringing to the surface the muddied, forgotten memories of our youth. As we rid ourselves of this mud that we bathe in, we scrape off the years of conditioning and the adopted beliefs about who we are, and we can begin to see what we are beyond physical form in the infinite world of spirit. When we learn to see ourselves beyond our immediate physical form, then we can see the soul of another. We begin to look past the unconscious actions and words of a person’s ego and become aware instead of the pure energy and light that often exists behind their immediate expressions.

  • A New Dawn

I look out of the window at the world that is whizzing by.
Silhouettes of pine trees against the twilight blue sky.
These are the moments that help to reprogram my mind.

  • Cleansing the Soul

My heartbeat falls into rhythm with that of the earth and we dance in perfect harmony across the woodland floor. The trees stand as witnesses of my hearts’ truest expression and, in these precious moments, the soul that resides within reunites with the eternal soul of Nature.

Following such moments, it is difficult to look into the eyes of another human and see an enemy. I realise that the same feelings, and the same soul, exists, too, inside of them. It is important, therefore, that mornings like these are experienced regularly. Too long spent away from the soul of Nature and our own true, authentic, expressive nature, might cause a person to become disconnected from their heart.

Brad W. Carr uses creativity to connect with Mother Nature and transmute emotional pain into beauty.

He guides you to do the same through his private creative sessions.
